De wejurana copa is een jaarlijks terugkerend voetbaltoernooi voor Inheemsen dorpen. Dit toernooi werd voor het eerst gehouden in het jaar 2002 en wordt nu dus voor de 12^e keer gehouden. Verder wordt dit toernooi volgens het knock-outsysteem gespeeld, waarbij de 1^e dag, de algemene ronde is en de 2^e dag de finale ronde. Op de 2^e dag krijg je dan de ¼ finale, daarna de ½ finale om tenslotte de grote finale te krijgen van het toernooi.  

Dit toernooi kent een aantal doelstellingen zoals:

-          het bevorderen van de verdraagzaamheid en de eenheid van de dorpen onderling

-          het stimuleren en bekendheid geven van Inheems talent op voetbal gebied 

-          het vergemakkelijken van het sociaal contact van participerende dorpen

-          het uitvoeren van sociale projecten uit opbrengsten van het toernooi

  

De afgelopen 3 kampioenen van het toernooi zijn:

-          Wit Santi  - 2012

-          Pierre Kondre (Kumbasi) - 2011

-          Bigi Poika – 2010

Het toernooi wordt dit jaar op 3 en 4 augustus 2013 gehouden en de locatie is het Dr. Ir. Franklin Essedstadion te Flora – Paramaribo, Suriname.   Voor een grotere toegankelijkheid is er gratis toegang voor 60+ en kinderen beneden 10 jaar.

The wejurana copa is an annual soccer tournament for indigenous villages. This tournament was first held in 2002, and is now held for the 12th time. Furthermore, this tournament is played according to the knock-out system, the 1st day, the general round and the 2nd day, the final round. On the 2nd day you get the ¼ finals, then the semi-finals and finally the tournament’s Grand finale.

This tournament has a number of objectives:

- Promotion of social tolerance and unity between and within Indigenous villages

- Promotion of Indigenous talent in soccer

- Facilitating the social contact of participating villages

- Implement social projects from revenue of the tournament

The last three champions of the tournament are:

- Wit Santi - 2012

- Pierrekondre (Kumbasi) - 2011

- Bigi Poika - 2010

The 2013 tournament will be held on 3 and 4 August this year and the location is Dr. Ir. Franklin Essed Stadium Flora - Paramaribo, Suriname. For greater accessibility, there is free entrance for 60 + and children under 10 years.
